MYTH 2: CLAT Exam is For ARTS Students Only.

This is another misconception among CLAT aspirants, that the CLAT exam is primarily for students from ARTS background. But the thing to note is that the CLAT eligibility criteria don’t restrict entry based on your stream in 10+2. Whether you’ve taken Science, Commerce, or Humanities, you’re eligible. The key here is to ensure that you meet the required percentage criteria i.e. 45% marks in the Senior Secondary School Examination if you belong to the General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories and 40% if you to SC/ST categories.

MYTH 3: One Must Have Prior Knowledge of LAW.

One of the most common Myths about the CLAT Exam is that One should have Prior knowledge of the law. Just because writing CLAT opens doors to NLUs, it doesn’t mean that one needs to have prior knowledge in the field of law. Rather CLAT is designed to test a candidate’s aptitude rather than their prior knowledge of law. The test evaluates a candidate’s proficiency in areas such as English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics. Anyone with a strong academic foundation and a passion for law can excel in CLAT.

MYTH 4: Maths is not Essential for Cracking CLAT.

This is another common myth about CLAT is that you don’t need to worry about the math section to pass CLAT! Although the math section doesn’t weigh much in CLAT, it’s still important to prepare for it. Competition in the CLAT Exam is increasing day by day. In CLAT 2024, almost 1 lakh aspirants appeared for CLAT. In this fierce competition, every mark you get can make a big difference in your rank among thousands of students. So, ignoring math isn’t a wise decision.

When compared to other sections, math is more straightforward and is less about opinions. If you are well prepared you can also get 100% accuracy in math, which can really boost your overall score. CLAT Exam is unpredictable in nature. Even if you’re prepared for every section, you might lose 7-8 marks unexpectedly. But if you’re prepared for math, you’ll have an advantage over others.

Remember, the math in CLAT is of a basic level, that you have learned in school up to class 10th. One can prepare for it in just a few weeks by practising the previous year’s papers and sample tests.

To excel in this section, reading newspapers, and articles, and practicing grammar exercises are highly beneficial.
