Shouvik Chatterjee has secured the 99.43%ile in CAT 2024. His journey is really inspiring as he shut down his startup in August 2024 and started his CAT preparation. In just 3 months of preparation Shouvik not only secured an overall CAT percentile of 99 but is also a 99 percentiler of the QA and VARC section. Shouvik Chatterjee is a student at iQuanta and shared a thanksgiving note with iQuanta and its faculty members. Read the given below blog to know his journey with iQuanta.

Aug 2024 – Shut down my Startup & started preparing for CAT in Iquanta’s last batch.
Dec 2024 – Scored 99.43%ile in CAT ( First Attempt )
Here’s my crazy story of “Karm karo, phal apne aap ayega !” ( Keep putting sincere work, results will surely come )
When I started my prep 4 months back, I knew I was at ground ZERO, and had very less time on my hands… Hearing about other students preparing for almost a year for CAT felt intimidating.
How could I ever catch up ? Well, as you can see, I did !
And you would never believe what happened! Infact, I would never believe what happened
I was FOCUSED, so in only 30 days ( 1 month ), I had finished going through the complete Quants syllabus once. This gave me the confidence I needed to start giving mocks.
From there on, I had a simple routine.
Practice VARC, QUANTS & DILR everyday… and almost every 2 days give a mock. Over the course of 4 months I gave 45 full length mocks, and 25+ sectional mocks.
But my mock scores kept being consistently disappointing !!
With all my effort, I could only average around 45 marks in mocks. Infact, I almost gave up the thought of good IIMs…. and 7 days before the CAT Exam, I was sure that I didn’t have what it takes.
But, even through the disappointment of average scores, Vikrant Kathuria sir taught me to keep a smile on my face… and I did.
30 days before CAT – I revisited Abhishek Leela Pandey sir’s Algebra , and Kamal Lohia sir’s basic Arithmetic sessions.. and I could finally start getting 25 marks consistently in QUANTS.
15 days before CAT – I could suddenly understand Raj Kumar Jha sir’s words, “Read carefully in LRDI, don’t go for tricks…go step by step!”, and suddenly I had CLARITY ! My LRDI marks started going above 20 marks consistently.
This was a big step in the positive direction, but still not enough. My total scores averaged at 65 marks at this time, and I needed a 80 – 90 to be one of the 99%ilers.
So here’s what happened…
7 days before CAT – Average Score in Mocks – 65
4 days before CAT – Desperation, Disappointment… Mocks scores still at 65.
2 days before CAT – Mock scores jump to – 90
WHAAT???? What happened ??
I cracked the VARC strategy !!
My consistent score of 20 in VARC became 40-45.
It was such an absurd jump, I had to check myself by giving multiple sectionals and full length mocks to see if it was really something that happened, or was it a FLUKE?!
Turns out, it was really a consistent 40 in VARC !
2 days before CAT !!! And my total mock score jumped to a consistent 80-90 !
And suddenly, there was a chance I could score really well on the D-Day ! And I did !!
So, anyone seeing this, don’t stop putting efforts till the LAST DAY !! Karm karte jao, Fal apne aap ayega !!
