JEE Main Session 1 2025 exam is on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29, 2025. NTA has released the JEE Main exam day guidelines 2025 that must be followed religiously to ensure that all the processes are completed smoothly. The exam will be held in two shifts. The first sheet timing is 9 AM to 12 PM and the second shift timing is 3 PM to 6 PM. JEE Main 2025 consists of two papers – Paper 1 is the BE/BTech Paper; and Paper 2A and 2B is B.Arch and B.Planning respectively. Paper 2 will be held on January 30, 2025, in the second shift. This article is like a checklist to ensure that you have all the documents ready and are aware of all the JEE Mains exam day instructions.

Why to Know JEE Main 2025 Exam Day Guidelines?

This phase is very important for candidates. We know you are stressed, however, all the preparation will go in vain if you are not aware of the exam rules. Forgetting to bring important documents, wearing inappropriate clothing, or entering the wrong details can stop you from appearing in the exam or cause discrepancies before the exam.

JEE Mains 2025 Guidelines – Before the Exam Day

  • Download JEE Main Admit Card 2025:  The admit card for JEE Main is out. Candidates need to download the admit card and ensure that all the details mentioned in the admit card are correct.
  • Know the Exact Location of the Exam Centre: There have been many incidents in the past where candidates went to the wrong exam centre as names are similar at times. If you are not aware of the exam center make sure you visit it once if it is nearby or make necessary arrangements so that you reach the designated location on time.
  • Printout Admit Card and Self-Declaration Copy: Candidates need to download their JEE Main Admit Card 2025 along with the self-declaration form. Make sure the printout is clear. Print out two copies as you need to submit the admit card after the exam is over.
  • Keep Passport-size Photographs Ready: Keep 2-3 passport-size photographs ready as you need to paste the photo and cross-sign it in the space provided in the admit card. The passport photo should be similar to the one submitted at the time of registration.
  • Keep an ID Ready: You need to bring an original and valid photo ID to the examination center. You can bring any one of the following – Driving License, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhar Card, Passport, Ration Card with Photograph, or Bank Passbook with Photograph.
  • Keep PwD/PwBD Certificate Ready (if applicable): Make sure the certificate is issued by an Authorised Medical Officer. 
  • Ensure Your Left Thumb Is Clean: Candidates need to mark their attendance using a left-thumb impression along with other formalities. Make sure there is no cut, henna, or tattoo that can affect the clarity of the thumb impression. 

JEE Mains Exam Day Guidelines 2025 – When to Arrive?

Candidates are allowed to enter the exam hall one hour before the start of the examination. To ensure a stress-free entry, arriving two hours before the JEE Main Session 1 exam time is recommended. 

The gate closes 30 minutes before the exam starts. Those candidates who come after 8:30 AM for Shift 1 and 2:30 PM for Shift 2 will not be allowed to appear in the exam.

Candidates were asked to register through DigiLocker or ABC ID at the time of registration. However, those who have opted for options other than Aadhar need to report to their examination center at least one hour before the scheduled reporting time to record their biometrics. JEE Main 2025 Exam Day Guidelines – Checklist of Compulsory Documents/Items to Carry

It is compulsory for candidates to carry the following documents:

  • Self-Attested JEE Main Admit Card 2025
  • Duly-Filled JEE Main 2025 Self-Declaration Form
  • Passport Size Photograph (one for admit card and one for attendance sheet)
  • Government-issued Original Photo Identity Card
  • Ball Pen (Blue or Black)

Items Allowed in JEE Main Exam:

  • Transparent Water Bottle
  • Eatables (only Sugar Tablets/Fruits) for Diabetic Students. Packed foods like chocolates, sandwiches etc are not allowed.
  • Transparent Bag/Pouch
  • Geometry Box/Crayons/Pencils/Erasers (only for Paper 2 applicants)

Items NOT Allowed in JEE Main Exam 2025:

  • Electronic Devices (smartwatches, mobile phones, calculators, Bluetooth devices, etc)
  • Study Materials or Study Notes ( any notes related to JEE Main syllabus)
  • Food Items
  • Bags and Purses
  • Stationery Items (pencils, erasers, rulers, highlighters, etc)
  • Jewellery or any Personal Items (jewellery, watches or other accessories)

JEE Main 2025 Dress Code

There is no specific dress code specified by NTA. However, due to security reasons and easy security screening, candidates must dress as simply as possible. Here are a few things to consider:

  • Do not wear clothing with heavy embroidery or embellishments. Do not wear clothes with large buttons, complex designs, or prints.
  • Candidates who need to compulsorily wear religious attire like a burkha or turban need to visit the exam center in advance for easy security checks. 
  • Avoid boots or heavy footwear with closed toes or thich soles. Wear only sandals or slippers.
  • Do not wear any head coverings like mufflers, caps; stoles, scarves, or clothing with metallic elements in it. 
  • Accessories like rings, bracelets, hair clips, hair pins, bracelets, chains or other heavy accessories are strictly prohibited.

JEE Main Exam Guidelines 2025 – During the Exam

Candidates are assigned specific seats and under no circumstances they are allowed to change their seat. The seats will mentioned in the admit card and the investigators will guide you as well. 

After the seats are allocated, candidates must go through the instructions provided in the screen carefully. They also need to enter their login details so that they can just start as soon as the exam commences. 

During the JEE Mains exam, candidates need to fill in their attendance sheet with details like application number, signature, and left thumb impression. They also need to paste their passport photo into the attendance register. 

Candidates will be provided with a rough sheet. They must write their application number, roll number, and seat number on one of the corners of the rough sheet. 

Candidates on the JEE Main 2025 exam day must compulsorily mark their biometric attendance and undergo hand and body searches even after toilet breaks.

JEE Main Exam Day Guidelines 2025 – After the Exam

Make sure you remain seated after the exam is over and follow the instructions of the invigilators. They need to submit their rough work sheet and deposit the JEE Main admit card 2025 in the designated deposit box or directly to the invigilators. Answer sheets of those candidates who failed to deposit their admit card will not be evaluated.
