Direct Admission at BITS Pilani – Key Highlights

Any candidates who wish to apply for direct admission at BITS Pilani need to meet the eligibility criteria specified for the same, apart from being a board topper. It is mandatory for them to fill in the BITSAT 2025 application form. The BITSAT 2025 registration date has been extended to April 24, 2025, for session 1 and both sessions. Candidates need to visit the BITSAT official website to apply. The official website is bitsadmission.com. BITSAT 2025 session 1 exam is scheduled from May 26-30. The session 2 exam will start from June 22, 2025 and will continue till 26, 2025.

Direct Admission at BITS Pilani – Courses to Apply

BITS Pilani will offer admission to the eligible candidate in the integrated first-degree programmes. The BITS courses in which the candidates can apply for admission are BE, M.Sc and B.Pharm. Eligible candidates with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects can apply for any course of their choice. However, candidates with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects can apply for only B,Pharm and B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engineering. 

Who is eligible for Direct Admission at BITS Pilani?

Meritorious students all over India who have secured first rank in central or any state boards will be given admission to the programmes of their choice, given that they meet the eligibility criteria provided. The BITSAT 2025 score will not have any effect on the admission process. The eligibility criteria for direct admission at BITS under the ‘Direct admission to Board toppers’ scheme are as follows:

The first rank holders must meet the minimum eligibility criteria of 75% marks in aggregate for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology. They need to obtain at least 60% marks in each of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology.

The first rank holders with PCM are eligible to opt for any course of their choice, whereas those with PCB as their compulsory subjects can opt for only B.Pharm or B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engineering for admission.

Who Qualifies as a Topper for Direct Admission at BITS Pilani?

The topper must have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology as compulsory subjects in Class 12th. Also, the candidate must have the highest aggregate marks in Class 12th among all the students who have taken PCB/PCM in 2025 from that specific board.

Eligibility Criteria In Case of More Than One Rank Holder

In circumstances where more than one candidate has obtained first rank from a particular board, admission in BITS Pilani under ‘Direct admission to Board toppers’ scheme is offered to only a maximum of four candidates. 

In situations where there are more than four rank holders from the same board, the following criteria is considered to eliminate the extra candidates:

• The score obtained by the candidates in Mathematics or Biology in their Class 12th examination is considered.
• If there is still a tie, the marks scored in Physics is considered for evaluation.
• If still there is a tie, the marks obtained by the candidates in Chemistry subject is considered to eliminate the tie.
• Further, if the issue persists, the marks scored by the candidates in Mathematics or Biology in Class 10th are taken into consideration.
• If there is still a tie, the admission committee can add additional criteria such as a written test to eliminate the extra candidates.

How is the Aggregate Score Calculated?

To calculate the aggregate percentage, the marks from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology is included, along with all other subjects that are required to pass Class 12 according to the relevant board. These subject marks are counted in the total, regardless of whether they are listed as main, optional, or elective on the marksheet.

Direct Admission Process at BITS Pilani

The candidates need to register for BITSAT 2025 by visiting the official website and filling out the application form. Furthermore, the candidates need to furnish the following documents to prove their eligibility for direct admission:

• Class 12th MarkSheet
• Documentary Proof of Being a Topper 
• Letter of Recommendation from the Board declaring the candidate as a topper

The admission committee can also collect data from different boards to prove the same. Candidates must submit the relevant documents within the given deadline failing which the admission will be cancelled. The final decision regarding admission under the ‘Direct admission to Board toppers’ scheme will depend on the Vice-Chancellor.
