The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is an autonomous public business school in Lucknow which was established in 1984 and is currently a centrally funded institution. It is the fourth Indian Institute of Management to be established after IIM-Calcutta, IIM- Ahmedabad and IIM-Bangalore. IIM-L also serves as the mentor institution for the newly established IIM Sirmaur
In 2005, IIM Lucknow established a second campus at Noida leveraging its proximity to Delhi exclusively for executive education IIM Lucknow is the first IIM in the country to start an additional campus. IIM Lucknow is an ideal setup conducive to learning, accessibility and excellence.
Programmes offered:
POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES (PGP, PGPABM and PGPSM)
The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management (PGPABM), and Post Graduate Programme in Sustainable Management (PGPSM) are full-time residential diploma courses. These are two-year programs, with the first year stretching from June to March in three ten-week trimesters, after which students undergo a two-month summer internship with a company or organisation. The specialisations offered in the second year are Finance, Marketing, Operations, Human Resources, Systems, Strategy and Economics while the PGPABM course students specialise in Agribusiness. Course of independent study and dissertation are available based on merit. To create world class professionals, it is important for them to be exposed to the world. The culture and economic differences between the developed and developing world are too vast to be simply taught in a classroom and hence students get a chance to go on exchange programs in foreign lands
Post Graduate Programme for Executives (IPMX, WMP, MDP)
The International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX) is a one-year, full-time MBA programme for executives, offered at IIM Lucknow’s Noida campus. It only admits candidates with a minimum of five years professional experience. The course consists of four 10-week terms including a two- to three-week stint at a partner university
The Working Managers’ Programme (WMP), offered at the Noida campus, is an MBA programme designed for working executives having a minimum of three years professional experience. It consists of nine terms that stretches for 27 months.
Management Development Programmes (MDP) are tailor made programs to train executives in specific industry, government, and non-governmental organisations. These programs, which typically last three to five days, are customised by subject or target group. Around 50 to 60 programs are conducted every year. A one-year General Management program is offered through virtual classroom. As a combined initiative with the Ministry of Defence, a six-month General Management Programme is conducted for Defence officers to assist their career transition to the corporate sectors.
Fellowship Programme (FPM)
Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is a four-year Doctoral programme in Management started in 2000. Candidates with master’s degrees or Engineering undergraduate degrees are eligible for admission. While the mandatory course work is undertaken in the first year and specialisation in the second year, the research thesis starts in the beginning of third year after a comprehensive examination. Students who have completed PGDM from any of the IIMs are admitted directly to the second year. The specialisations offered are Decision. The institute does not charge tuition fees for fellowship program in addition to providing free hostel facility.
Exchange Programme
As a part of student exchange programs, students spend a three-month term in a foreign university in October to December in their second year. Every year around 50+ students of IIM Lucknow are selected for the exchange programs based on merit, while around 30 foreign students come to IIM Lucknow.
IIM Lucknow has student exchange relationships with 30+ leading B-schools in Europe, USA, Canada, Singapore, and China. The Dual Degree Program, offered in association with the ESCP Europe business school in France, awards degrees from both institutes after students spend a year in each. About four or five students are selected each year for the program. Students, after completing two trimesters (July–September and October–December) at IIM Lucknow, spend two semesters (January–May and September–December) at ESCP Europe’s Paris campus and return to IIM Lucknow to complete the final term from January to March.
Admission Procedure
Admission to the post graduate programs and fellowship program is done through the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is jointly conducted by the IIMs. Applications are shortlisted based on CAT scores, scholastic achievements, and work experience. The weightage given for each of these components varies each year. The candidates are called for WAT, Group Discussion and personal interviews, conducted in cities in India in the months of February and March. The final selection is based upon the performance in CAT, scholastic achievement, work experience, performance in group discussion, and personal interview. Admissions to the IPMX program are done based on GMAT score, work profile and personal interview. Admission to the WMP program is done based on GMAT score or a competitive written examination conducted by IIM Lucknow. The shortlisted candidates based on GMAT or the written examinations go through Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview (WAT & PI) to get final selection
Key student bodies of IIM Lucknow
Media and Communication Cell – The Media and Communication Cell (MCC) serves as a communications liaison between the institute and the external world. This student committee’s mission is to ensure that all the student activities and initiatives at IIM Lucknow find quality space in print, electronic and social media.
Synapse – This is a student committee which develops and maintains IT applications for the institute community and ensures that the entire institute stays connected to each other.
Manfest Varchasva (MV) – MV conducts IIM Lucknow’s annual management, sports and cultural festival held in November. The three-day event hosts many management contests, leadership summits, and other inter college quizzes and sports and cultural competitions
INDEX – Index committee organizes an annual marketing fair conducted by students at the Colvin Taluqdars’ college grounds, attended by the public of the city.] Game stalls are set up at the fair to carry out disguised market research.
Entrepreneurship Cell (E-cell)- E-cell conducts a competition called “Bizness”, where all participants are given a seed capital of ₹2000 to run any business in the campus for two days and earn profits. They also organize a lot of corporate talks and sessions by esteemed alumni and leaders from the corporate world.
Credence Capital – Credence Capital is run by students who are stock market enthusiasts and keep interest in managing & growing funds. They also manage a mutual fund where they manage money invested by students from the institute
Mess Committte– The Mess (Annapoorna) is entirely run and managed by students, with the infrastructure provided by the institute and is continually ranked best mess among all IIMs.
SPIC MACAY– A classical cultural night “Aarohan” is organised by the IIM Lucknow chapter of SPIC MACAY in the month of August. It showcases live shows of classical arts including carnatic.
Sports Committee – The sports committee of IIM Lucknow organized several intra and inter colleges tournaments throughout the year to promote the culture of sports and fitness among students. The institute sports team participates in most of the popular college sports meets including the annual sports event Sangharsh where 4 colleges (IIM A,B,C,L) participate.
Final Placement 2020 report
IIM Lucknow has completed the final placement process for PGP 2018-20 batch with participation from 140 recruiters from India and abroad. A total of 443 students participated in the process who received 447 offers. Accenture, Amazon, Deloitte, PWC, BCG emerged as the leading recruiters with all of them recruiting 13 offers. Majority of offers were offered in the consulting domain followed by offers in operations & IT.

Financial Assistance/Scholarships, Housing and Fee structure
Housing: IIM Lucknow consists of 17 hostel blocks which can accommodate more than 1000 students and all the students get a single room for themselves. 24 Hour Internet connectivity, fully automatic washing machines, and recreation room are standard features. Laundry and ironing services are also provided.
Fee Structure The total fee for 2 years for the PGP programme is Rs. 19,25,000. This would cover Tuition, Library, accommodation, Internet, course material and other insurance charges. Additionally, students need to pay separate fees for mess.
Financial Assistance/Scholarships: The institute has instituted scholarships for students based on merit and family income. Any student, including those belonging to the reserved category, whose total annual gross family income (self, parents, spouse does not exceed more than Rs. 4 Lacs is eligible for consideration of these scholarships. The awardees are chosen from eligible candidates in order of merit, for a period of one academic year at a time. The financial assistance would be in the form of fee waiver and is subject to maintaining the stipulated standards of academic performance. Students can avail various other scholarships instituted by various Central Government, State Government and other bodies for higher studies
