Facing Results: How To Bounce Back Stronger

Building yourself

Competitive exams are, by their very nature, very competitive. For some to succeed, others have to fall back. Competitive exams are all a game of relative success, you just need to score better than your human peers, that’s it.

Therefore, it becomes crucial that you are able to manage your emotions always and think rationally when it comes to your exam preparation. Even if you fail to clear one exam today, it does not determine what you are capable of tomorrow. Therefore, always focus ahead.

There are a few things to keep in mind while handling disappointment:

  • Understand that it is temporary: disappointment and its associated pain are also temporary, like with all things in the world. Things will change, things will get better. Change is the only constant in the world.
  • Understand that overthinking will not change the outcome: if you keep overthinking about the results, how you could have changed the outcome only if you had one more day to prepare, your thinking pattern would not change the outcome. You need to have a more productive thinking pattern. Learn and grow from your errors and misjudgement.
  • Understand that self-doubt will not make you successful: having a confident mindset is the key to success. The day you start doubting your capabilities, the day you will fall behind. Self-doubt will not allow you to grow and be productive.
  • Focus on lessons: everything in life that happens to us happens for a reason. Identify the reasons and lessons. There might be a reason why you could not get through. Did you practice enough mocks or revise properly? Identify the gaps in your preparation, fill them up and move on.
  • Never settle for less: the government will not tax you if you set a high bar for yourself, then what is stopping you? Why are you keeping yourself limited? Think big and high for yourself. Move out and expand your limits. Show the world what you are capable of, and you shall see things working for you magically.
  • Understand yourself: think from a neutral perspective and determine what you can do and what you can not do. Apply the second-order thinking. You will get a new perspective on the issues at hand. Expand what you can do and minimise what you can not do by adopting a growth mindset. Daily grow and challenge yourself.

These were some of the points that you needed to keep in din order to grow and challenge yourself in the longer run. Always aim for concrete results. Never plan in the air. What has happened, has happened, nothing will change will you get stuck there. Look up and keep moving forward!
