CAT (Common  Admission Test)

The first exam that anyone can think of when it comes to an MBA is CAT (Common Admission Test). Having the broadest domain of colleges under its belt, it’s the road most traveled.

  • The application process for CAT starts around the first week of August.
  • This exam concerns 3 sections namely Verbal Ability & Reading comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude.
  • Exam Duration: 2 hours for the years 2020 and 2021, 3 hours for previous years.
  • Computer based, sectionally bounded test.
  • Exam Date: Most likely on the last sunday of November.
  • Conducted once in a year.
  • Scores Accepted By: All IIMs, FMS delhi, SP Jain, MDI- Gurgaon, IMT-Ghaziababd, DMS-IITD, SJMSOM-IITB and many others.

XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test)

Second on the list is XAT, XLRI Jamshedpur being the conducting body.

  • The application process usually begins in August.
  • XAT checks the Verbal & Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude & Data interpretation, General knowledge and Essay writing skills of aspirants.
  • Exam Duration: 3 hours +10 minutes ( for GK section)
  • Computer based, sectionally unbounded exam.
  • Exam Date: First week of January
  • Conducted once in a year.
  • Scores Accepted By: XLRI Jamshedpur ( BM and HRM programs), MICA Ahemdabad, IMT-G, XIMB, Great Lakes and many more.

IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade)

Next comes IIFT. IIFT is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) annually.

  • The registration process for IIFT begins in the first week of September.
  • IIFT tests your Quantitative Analysis, Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and General Awareness.
  • Exam Duration: 2 hours
  • Computer based, not sectionally time limited.
  • Exam Date: First week of December
  • Scores Accepted By: IIFT Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada campuses.

SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test)

Another important exam you shall take is the SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test) conducted by Symbiosis International University.

  • Exam forms are usually out in first week of August.
  • SNAP tests General English, Quantitative Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency and Analytical & Logical Reasoning.
  • Exam Duration: 1 hour.
  • Computer based, not sectionally time limited.
  • Test Day: SNAP is conducted in three sessions; third week of December and first & second week of January.
  • Scores Accepted By: SIBM-Pune, SCMHRD-Pune, SIBM-Banglore and the list continues.

NMAT (NMIMS Aptitude Test)

In addition to all of these exams, NMAT conducted by GMAC can be attempted.

  • Registrations usually begins in August.
  • NMAT questions aspirants on Quantitative Skills, Logical Reasoning and Language Skills.
  • Exam Duration: 2 hours (28 minutes for Language Skills, 52 mins for Quantitative Skills and 40 minutes for Logical Reasoning).
  • Computer based test.
  • Exam Date: Second week of October to last week of December.
  • Scores Accepted By: NMIMS Mumbai, KJ-Somaiya, SPJIMR ( PGMPW),XIMU and many more.

TISSNET (TISS-National Entrance Test)

In this row, TISSNET ( TISS-National Entrance Test) shall be on your list, conducted by TISS Mumbai.

  • Registration for TISSNET begins in December.
  • TISSNET checks an aspirant’s General Awareness (40% weightage), English Proficiency and Mathematical & Logical Reasoning.
  • Exam Duration: 100 minutes.
  • Computer based test, not sectionally time limited.
  • Exam Date: In the month of February.
  • Scores Accepted By: TISS Mumbai which is renowned institute for its flagship MA (HRM & LR) Program.

CMAT (Common Management Admission Test)

Also, CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) can be taken.

  • Registration for CMAT begins in usually in the month of February.
  • CMAT evaluates a candidate on Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, Language Comprehension & Verbal Ability and Innovation & Enterpreneurship.
  • Exam Duration: 3 hours.
  • Computer based test, not sectionally time limited.
  • Exam Date: Usually in the month of April
  • Scores Accepted By: JBIMS Mumbai, IMT-G, KJ-Somaiya, GLIM-Chennai, GIM-Goa and many more.

You are recommended to take these exams since all the serious aspirants are running up against the rigid walls of their capabilities and potential. In addition to the fact that these exams increase the probability of conversion, they work as your backup plans.
