NEET Apaar ID Not Mandatory for Registration – Officially Announced by NTA

The National Testing Agency has notified that the NEET Apaar ID is not mandatory for registration. What is NEET Apaar ID?

NEET APAAR ID was previously termed the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID). It is a digital system designed to preserve the student’s academic credits and maintain a record of their academic history. Some of its key benefits are academic progress monitoring, unique student ID, streamlined record keeping, and much more.

Importance of Apaar ID

The NEET Apaar ID is a unique identification number allocated to the students who register for the NEET exam. It plays an important role during the application, examination, and admission. Here is the key importance of the NEET Apaar ID:

• The Apaar ID allows continuous and comprehensive tracking of each student commencing from Class I throughout their academic journey.
• Educators can easily identify subject-specific weaknesses in the academic data of the students and use different approaches to improve their learning methods.
• The Apaar ID system securely preserves all student academic records digitally and reduces their reliability on paper records and streamlining administrative tasks.

NEET 2025 Apaar ID – Latest Notice

On 24th January 2025, the National Testing Agency announced that the APAAR ID is not compulsory for the NEET UG 2025 registration. However, students can register for the exam using another mode as specified in the information bulletin. To simplify the process for the candidates, they released the User Guide for creating Apaar ID and video tutorials for reference purposes. 

User Guide to Create NEET Apaar ID

NEET APAAR ID registration online can be completed through three platforms: DigiLocker Portal, UMANG Portal, and ABC Portal. Here we have a step-by-step guide to creating Apaar ID in all the platforms without any hassles.

Apaar ID Creation via DigiLocker Portal

The DigiLocker APAAR ID can be created using different methods such as website, mobile application, and QR code scanning. Check the detailed steps below:

Step 1: Go to the official DigiLocker website, digilocker.gov.in and click the “Sign in” button or “Sign up” button.

Step 2: Fill in all the required details, create a six-digit login PIN and click the submit button. Then, enter the OTP received on the registered mobile and click “Submit”

Step 3: Now, sign in to the DigiLocker website using the valid registered credentials.

Step 4: Enter all the asked details and click the “Get Document” button. The Name, Date of Birth, and Gender fields will be filled out based on Aadhaar data. You need to choose the admission year, academic institution, identity type, and identity value from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Upon logging in, click the “Join Now” tab of the Academic Bank of Credits banner and you will be redirected to the APAAR ID creation window. Now, choose the registration number, roll number, enrollment number or new admission and submit its value.

Step 6: Scroll through the list and choose the name of your institution. Now, click “OK” to proceed. Carefully read the consent statement and then hit “Get Document”.

Step 7: After submitting, you will see a confirmation message reflecting “ Your request has been submitted”.

Step 8: Click the download button and a PDF of your Apaar ID will be displayed. 

You can also create a DigiLocker APAAR ID through  QR Code scanning. Firstly, you need to scan the QR Code and you will be redirected to the DigiLocker app. After that, you need to log in and find the form filled with your basic details. Then you must select the admission year, Identity type and value, and academic institution from the dropdown menu. Then, click the “Get Document” button, to generate the Apaar ID.  Once the NEET Apaar ID is created, you can find it under the “My Issued Documents” tab.

NEET Apaar ID Creation via UMANG Portal

Here is the step-by-step guide to creating NEET Apaar ID using the UMANG Portal as shared below:

Step 1: Go to the UMANG Portal i.e. web.umang.gov.in/landing/. Then, hit the “Login/Register” button. You can log in either through the Login page or Meri Pehchaan.

Step 2: Click the “Register here” button for new registration.

Step 3: Enter your mobile number and click “Get OTP” to receive the OTP on the registered mobile number and then enter it.

Step 4: After entering the OTP, you will be redirected to the next page where you need to set a security PIN.

Step 5: Click the login tab and check the Sign in and Sign up page.

Step 6: Enter the admission year, identity type and value, choose your academic Institution and then read the consent language and hit the “Get Document” button.

Step 7: The “Issued Documents” section will appear on the screen. Here, you can view your generated Apaar ID. Click on “APAAR ID Card” for the download section.

Step 8: Now, hit the “Download APAAR ID” button.

Apaar ID Creation via ABC Portal

Here is the step-by-step guide to creating NEET Apaar ID using the ABC Portal as shared below:

Step 1: Go to the official ABC website, abc.gov.in.

Step 2: Now, hit the student dropdown option to get redirected to the Meri Pehchaan sign-in window. You can log in through mobile PIN, user PIN or other login options.

Step 3: For a new registration, click the “Sign Up” button. Now Enter your basic details, and mobile number and hit the “Generate OTP” button. After entering the OTP, enter all the asked details and click on verify.

Step 4: A login page will appear where you need your ten-digit number, select PIN-less authentication or enter the PIN created during registration.

Step 5: Now, log in with all the asked details.

Step 6: If you are a new user, submit the name of your existing academic institution, identity type and identity value, admission year and other required details and click the “Submit” button. The new ABC student ID account can be viewed on the screen.

Step 7: Now, select the “Go to Dashboard” button and you will be redirected to the ABC student Dashboard.
