Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday resigned as chief minister of Haryana after cracks appeared in the ruling coalition in the state ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. A Haryana government spokesperson said Manohar Lal Khattar has handed over the resignation letter along with his cabinet to the Haryana governor.
The events in Haryana unfolded a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Khattar and his vision for Haryana’s development at an event in Gurgaon during which the government launched the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway.
Recalling how he and Khattar go a long way, Modi recounted how he used to ride pillion on Khattar’s motorbike, often travelling from Rohtak to Gurgaon. “There were small roads but today the entire Gurugram region is connected to several major national highways, including expressways, which reflects the progressive mindset of Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Lal. Today, the future of every Haryanvi is safe under the leadership of the Chief Minister.”

Haiti’s embattled Prime Minister announced his resignation late on Monday, effective once a transition council and temporary replacement have been appointed.
A U.S. official said the decision for the resignation was made on Friday, though he did not officially tender it to his cabinet until Monday evening and later issued an official video address.
He had traveled to Kenya in late February to secure support for an international security mission to fight Haiti’s powerful armed gangs, but violence in the capital escalated during his absence and left him stranded in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.
Protesters were demanding that the president resign, arguing that he had overstayed his term, and Mr Moïse often spoke of “dark forces” he said were out to get him.
