JEE Main is an online computer based test. Each candidates are assigned specific seats which is mentioned in the admit card. After the candidates find their assigned seats, they need to follow the instructions mentioned in the computer screen. Candidates need to enter their login details and wait till the exam starts. In between the test, candidates must fill an attendance sheet correctly where they need to enter their application number, sign and put their left thumb impression. They need to carry along with them a passport photo as well. On the rough sheet provided they need to write their JEE Main application number and seat number.
Do’s for the JEE Main Exam Day
Here are the few things that candidates must do during the JEE Main exam day:
- You need to reach the exam centre 30 minutes before the start of the JEE Main exam. However, it is advised to reached atleast 45 minutes earlier to ensure smooth entry process to the exam hall.
- Candidates need to carry the JEE Main admit card 2025, the undertaking form, a valid ID proof and a passport photo to the exam hall.
- Once the attendance sheet is provided, candidates must cross verify the information and enter the details properly.
- Once the exam starts it is important to read the instructions provided in the exam paper.
- Candidates must make sure they do not spend more time on a question that is confusing or difficult to answer. Time management must be given proper emphasis at this stage.

Don’ts for the JEE Main Exam Day
- If your exam center is not familiar, do not keep yourself waiting for the exam day to find it out. Make an attempt to visit the centre once and confirm a day or two before the exam.
- Do not carry items that are prohibited in the exam hall.
- Do not take stress. Wear something comfortable to give the exam at ease.
- The JEE Main exam has negative marking. Do not guess and mark your answers. Attempt the known questions first and then go to the difficult questions.
- Do not spend more than the required time on a single question. In situations, where you are unable to solve a known question, mark it and come back once you have attempted all the other questions in the paper.

JEE Main 2025 Exam Day Dress Code
There is no such dress code for the exam. However, to ensure that the security check and screening process gets done at ease you need to keep in mind the following:
- Do not wear accessories like hair clips, hair pins and any metallic jewellery items.
- Refrain from wearing stoles/scarves/mufflers, caps or any such clothing with metallic buttons or embellishments.
- Those who are religiously bound to wear a burqa or turban need to visit the exam centre early on the exam day to ensure smooth screening.
- Do not wear clothing with heavy embroidery/embellishments/large buttons/complex designs/prints.
- Do not wear boots or footwear with closed toes or thick soles. It is advised to wear only slippers or sandals.
