GMAT exam dates are flexible compared to other entrance tests. You can attempt this exam at any time of the year, except on public holidays. This exam can be taken five times in a year, and the total number of GMAT attempts in a lifetime is set to eight. Once you appear for the test, you can re-attempt it only after 16 calendar days.
The test dates are easily available, and you can book the exam slot anytime between 6 months to 24 hours in advance, keeping in mind the university deadlines and the time needed for preparations.
GMAT Exam Registration Fee
There are two possible ways to attempt the GMAT test, online and test centre. The online fee varies from the test centre fee. Check out fee below for the GMAT exam registration fee:

New GMAT Focus Edition 2024
GMAC has announced the new ‘GMAT Focus Edition’ on February 1, 2024 and applicants can register for it now, put up at test centers or online, through the GMAC official website www.gmac.com.

Options Available To Register For GMAT Exam
You can register for the test 6 months prior to your desired test date. There is also an option of rescheduling or cancellation that can be done via any of the below options:
- Online: The most preferred option to register for the GMAT exam is online. Log on to the official website, mba.com, and create your account. You will be asked to fill in a few details to complete the registration process.
- Phone: To register via phone, you can call the GMAC India office between working hours (9 am to 6 pm) at 0091-124-494-5270. There is an additional fee of $10 if you register by calling the office.
- Postal Mail: If you wish to opt for this method, you will have to download and fill out the exam form through the official website. This is a slow and not much-preferred option, as it takes nearly 8 weeks for the form to reach the GMAC office.

While booking your GMAT test slot, keep in mind the following things:
- To get the desired test slot, it is advisable to book the GMAT exam slot 3 to 6 months prior to your preferred date.
- Make sure that the spelling of your name mentioned in the registration form is the same as that mentioned on your ID proof.
- If you are planning to give the exam at a test centre, choose the nearest centre to your place.
- In India, only credit cards are accepted as a mode of payment for online GMAT registration.
- Slots are available for the morning and afternoon. Pick up the time you are most comfortable and would not feel sleepy.
GMAT Exam: How To Reschedule
The GMAT exam has a provision for rescheduling the exam. If for any reason, you feel you won’t be able to appear for the exam, you can always reschedule your test date. Follow the following simple steps to reschedule your GMAT test date:

When Should You Book Your GMAT Slot?
With an increasing number of applicants, it is advisable to book your GMAT slot at least a month prior to your desired date, to attempt the exam. Other factors to consider when planning and booking your GMAT exam date are:
- Always book a slot 3 to 4 months in advance. Keep in mind your admission deadlines to avoid unnecessary rescheduling of the test date later.
- If you wish to improve your GMAT score, keep enough time between your test-taking date and the deadlines for different business schools.
- Take a few mock tests before finalizing your GMAT test date to help you evaluate your performance. This will help you decide the date of your exam accurately to achieve the desired score.
