Changes in NEET NTA Exam Pattern in 2025 

The NEET NTA UG 2025 exam pattern has undergone several changes. It has been reverted to its pre-covid format. It implies that section B and optional questions are no longer part of this exam. Now, the exam comprises 180 questions including 45 questions each for physics and chemistry and 90 questions for biology. The NEET test duration shall be 180 minutes. The marking scheme is likely to remain unchanged. Check the important insights about the NEET NTA exam pattern below:

  • The NEET UG exam is a paper-pencil-based test.
  • It comprises three subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • The exam will be held in 13 languages such as English, Assamese, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali,  Kannada, Odia, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, and Urdu. 
  • A total of 180 questions will be asked for 720 marks.
  • The test will be conducted for 180 minutes.
  • As per the marking scheme, 4 marks will be awarded for correct answers. A negative mark of 1 mark will be applicable for the wrong answer.

NEET APAAR ID Not Compulsory for Registration

As per the latest notice, NTA has notified that the NEET Apaar ID is not compulsory for registration. Aspirants register for the NEET UG exam through other modes mentioned in the notification. APAAR ID was previously called as Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID). It is built to digitally preserve students’ academic credits. It also maintains a record of their academic history.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET NTA

Aspirants must fulfil all the NEET NTA eligibility criteria before applying for the entrance exam. They must enter only valid and correct details in the NEET application form to avoid cancellation of the candidature. Let’s discuss the NEET age limit and other requirements below:

  • The minimum NEET age limit shall be 17 years with no upper age limit.
  • There is no limit on the NEET attempt till candidates meet all the eligibility requirements.
  • The minimum qualification shall be a 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. They must score at least 50% marks (40% for SC, ST, or OBC (NCL)) in their 12th standard.
  • Candidates applying for NEET NTA must be an Indian national. Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Foreign Nationals can also apply.
