Overview of the IPMAT Exam

The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are some of the most prestigious business schools in the world. Every year, thousands of students apply to these schools, hoping to succeed in life through the study of management. However, the IIMs have very stringent requirements for admission, with a high cutoff and a tough exam. The IPMAT exam is the entrance exam for select IIMs. 

The IPMAT Exam is a 5 year integrated MBA program for IIMs like IIM Indore, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak and IIM Jammu.

It consists of sections: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability (SA and MCQs), and Verbal Ability. However, there are certain variations, with IIM Rohtak consisting of Quants, Verbal, and Logical Reasoning Sections. 

The exam will be in the 2nd week of July at hundreds of test centers across the country. The IPMAT is one of the most competitive exams in India.

Exam Structure and Syllabus

The IPMAT exam consists of 3 sections: a Verbal Ability section, a Quantitative Ability section, and a Logical Reasoning section (the last section for IIM Rohtak). 

The three sections are given a time of 40 minutes each. The IPMAT follows a negative marking policy, which means that incorrect answers will be penalized with a deduction of 1 mark.

While preparing for the exam, you must keep in mind that the exam is a game of time. You have 120 minutes to complete the exam. The key to succeed in this exam is to manage your time correctly. There are a few strategies for you to choose from: 

Read the Question Carefully: You must read the question carefully. The correct answer will be hidden in the question. This will also help you understand the question and its complexity. 

Break the Question into Parts: Once you have understood the question, you must break the question into parts. This will make the solution easier for you, as you will be solving a smaller problem. You can also solve the question in parts if it is too large. 

Read the Answer Choices Carefully: You must also carefully read the answer choices. This will help you identify the incorrect answer choices, based on the information given in the question.

Taking the Exam

You must understand that the IPMAT exam is a game of time. This exam is not so much about the knowledge you have but your ability to manage time correctly. There are a few things you must keep in mind during the exam:
