The Joint Seat Allocation Authority is all set to release the list of JoSAA participating institutes 2025 and the information brochure in the coming months. As per the previous year’s data, 121 institutes participated in JoSAA counselling. Out of 121, there were 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 40 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). The seat allocation is done based on JEE Main/JEE Advanced scores, seat availability, and choice filled. All the qualified candidates can secure admission in any of the JoSAA participating institutes through the counselling process. The seat allotment in IITs is done based on JEE Advanced scores. Yes. The government has recently announced the addition of 6,500 seats across five Indian IITs over the next five years in their Union Budget 2025.
As per JoSAA seat matrix 2024, there were 17760 seats for IITs, 24229 seats for NITs, 8546 seats for IIITs, and 9402 seats for GFTIs.
The JoSAA counselling will be conducted in five to six rounds for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
