Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, founded in 1997 in collaboration with the State Government of Kerala, was the 6th IIM to be established. The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode is one of the 19 Indian Institutes of Management set up by the Government of India. The institute is known for its picturesque campus and a world class infrastructure which has air-conditioned classrooms and hostels.
The institute has a highly qualified and experienced faculty, and invites plenty of visiting faculty from Industry and other leading management institutes including foreign universities. The Institute has a strong International Exchange Programme for students and faculty with several leading Management Institutes in EU and ASEAN countries like SDA, Bacconi, Jonkoping, Sweden, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, ESCAP-EAP, France; University of Queensland, Austria, Victoria University of Wellington and so on.
Programmes Offered
IIMK offers many academic courses curated to serve students ranging from having no work experience to ones having a significant experience. Below mentioned are the key programmes that are offered in the institute
Post Graduate Program (PGP) – The two-year Post-graduate Programme in Management, equivalent to an MBA, is the flagship education program which aims to prepare young graduates for senior-level positions in the industry with its motto “Diligence leads to excellence”. The institute stresses on a rigorous evaluation system and “learning to learn” approach through self-study, group work, open-ended discussions, and real-life projects. Like all IIMs, IIM Kozhikode awards diplomas, not degrees.
Post Graduate Programme in Finance (PGP-Finance) – This Programme is designed for aspirants who aim to make their career in finance in domains such as corporate finance, investment banking, and wealth management. The course is benchmarked against similar global programs in terms of program content and coverage, while providing the participants a strong grounding in the Indian context through means of immersive courses, interaction with industry leaders and on-site/ trading floor visits.
Post Graduate Programme in Business Leadership (PGP-BL) – The one-year Post-Graduate Programme in Business Leadership is a uniquely designed management programme aimed at shaping young graduates with relevant work experience into potential business leaders through a high-intensity and holistic curriculum. The program is specially crafted to combine academic instruction with global exposure, and deep sensitization to critical aspects of leadership and responsible business
Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM) – The Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM) is a full time, residential, fully financially supported programme of the institute which aims to provide rigorous, world-class, inter-disciplinary training in all areas of business management to equip students with the ability to conduct cutting-edge research meeting the international standards
Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP) – The Executive Post Graduate Programmes are ideal for working professionals and executives to hone their skills and strategies to take their organizations to new heights around work. Executive Post Graduate Programmes are delivered though an Interactive Learning platform where participants can attend the classes from the designated classroom centers available at their locations.
Key Student bodies of IIM K
Students’ Council is the apex student body at IIM Kozhikode that co-ordinates and manages all academic, extra-curricular and day-to-day activities of student life. The Students’ Council exists to ease and complement the quality of life and learning at this beautiful campus and helms several clubs and committees, a few of which are mentioned underneath.
Entrepreneurship cell- Entrepreneurship Cell acts as a catalyst to nurturing the business orientation of the students at IIM Kozhikode. The interactive and enticing activities scheduled by the Committee such as Dhandha, Start-o-Sphere, Marketing Rumble are instrumental to linking developing business minds with the reality of the current world of business. It also paves a way for students to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams
Cultural Committee- Popularly and fondly called ‘CulCom’ works round the year to ensure that the time spent at Kampus is cherished by everyone. The committee’s flaship event is the Annual Cultural Festival, Echoes, that hosts a wide variety of events like Music, Dance, Theatre, Quizzes and Literary Events lasting for over three days. Echoes acts as a platform for the students at IIMK to get to showcase their hidden talents promoting development of their softer skills and helping them appreciate various arts forms and culture through exposure
Sports Committee – The Sports committee (Sportscom) in IIMK is a student body that caters to the need of all sports and game activities on campus. Emphasizing on the premise of a sound body and mind, the committee hosts series of sporting events round the calendar to keep the student community engaged. The committee also acts as an interface for its inter college tournament, Sangram (4-pronged B school tournament) which it hosts every alternate year
Atharva (The Quizzing Club)- Atharva is the quiz club of IIM Kozhikode which serves as platform for quizzing enthusiasts to collaborate and conduct quizzes on various themes and genres throughout the year. Atharva frequently collaborates with other clubs to conduct quizzes on some unique themes. Every year IIMK acts as host to reputed quizzing events such as Wipro Earthian quiz and TATA crucible to inculcate a competitive and vibrant culture that helps contenders from the institute to remain at the helm of such events.
Konsult – The aim of Konsult is to promote interest for consulting and strategy in the student community of IIM-K and provide a platform to hone their skills in the same. This committee aims to foster a consulting culture on campus at both academic and professional levels. The regular activities of Konsult include hosting guest lectures, seminars and sessions by industry experts and consulting alumni, conducting case-study workshops and certifications etc.
Financially yours – Financially Yours (FY) strives at promoting and developing an interest in the field of finance. It is responsible for conducting sessions on a regular basis to discuss contemporary relevant topics & facilitate discussions on theoretical concepts as well as industry practices. These sessions are aimed at discussing topics beyond the scope of the routine classroom sessions.
Final Placement 2019 report
IIM Kozhikode witnessed record final placements for the batch of 2017-19 with the entire process being wrapped up within 6 days. There was a 16% increase in the average salary offered for the batch and 21 new companied recruited from the campus. The Top 50 percent of the recruited students secured an average salary of 23.74 lakh while the other 50 percent bagged an average of 15.05 lakh. The institute achieved 100% placements with total of 390 offers being rolled out by 107 organizations. More than 50% of the recruiters feature in the Fortune-500 companies.

Summer Placement 2019-2021 report
The summer placements for the batch of 2019-21 attracted participation from 131 companies which rolled out offers to 462 students with the highest stipend being INR 3.2 lakhs for the two-month internship. The median stipend stood at INR 2 lakhs and the average stood at INR 1.75 lakhs. Amazon made the highest number of offers at 19 offers. First time recruiters participating in this summer placement season included Duff & Phelps, Ola, Udaan and Walmart Labs. Accenture Strategy, Amazon, Asian Paints, Axis Bank, EY, Goldman Sachs, HUL, ITC, JP Morgan Chase, Pidilite, PwC, Shell, TAS, Uber and Udaan were some of the top recruiters extending a total of 128 offers to approximately 27% of the batch.

Financial Assistance/Scholarships, Housing and Fee structure
Housing : The Institute has 17 well-designed hostels capable of accommodating about 1150 students. The classrooms, computer center, canteen, and all other facilities are within walking distance of the hostel. Washing machines and geysers are provided in all hostels. Some hostels have air conditioning facilities as well. Also available are various sports facilities which include a table tennis room, a badminton court, two basketball courts, a football field, and a well-equipped gymnasium. There are various recreational facilities also available like a music room, indoor games like a snooker table, dart game and carom board. All the hostel rooms have been provided with a LAN connection to cater to the computing needs of the students.
Fee Structure : Currently the annual fee for PGP programme is Rs 9,50,000 (likely to be revised for the upcoming batch). The fee includes tuition, course material, and board and lodging. The annual fee does not cover personal expenses such as travel, clothes, stationery, and laundry.
Financial Assistance/Scholarships : IIMK Merit scholarships are awarded by the Institute to first and second year students on the basis of their performance during an academic year, as determined by their CGPA. IIMK Need Based Scholarship is provided to all eligible students during the first and second year of the programme. Central Sector Scholarship for SC and ST Students; and Merit-cum-Means Scholarships for students belonging to minority communities are also awarded. In addition, scholarships/awards are also offered by benefactors like NTPC, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, SGGSC, Aditya Birla Group, OPJEMS, Rajarshee Sahu Maharaj Scholarship, Pratibha Scholarship etc.
