Management Development Institute – MDI Gurgaon

MDI Gurgaon

MDI Gurgaon was founded in 1973 by the Industrial Finance Corporation of India. It is situated in the commercial hub, Gurgaon, near New Delhi. It is considered one of the oldest B-Schools in the country and has been consistently ranked on top. This article talks everything about MDI Gurgaon, from campus life to placements.

Campus Life

As a private institution, MDI has no reservations, meaning all the students are selected based on merit. This also ensures the quality of the students remains top-notch. The students of MDI Gurgaon are called ManDevIans. The institute boasts some of the country’s best faculty, with more than 75 full-time faculty living on the campus. The institute’s location acts as a strategic advantage in the hotspot of many multinational companies. It is also close to the national capital of India, Delhi. Hence, the students get the opportunity of meeting and talk with industry stalwarts.

The normal day in the life of a student in MDI starts a few minutes before 8 when the first class starts. You will wake up on the first ring of the alarm as most likely you will already be late for class. This is because you will be surviving on 3-4 hours of sleep or even lesser. The sleep, however, depends on your participation and interests in different clubs/committees. The more responsibilities you have on your shoulders, the more work and obligations you will have. This will in turn lead you to sacrifice your sleep. Classes go on till the evening depending on the electives chosen by the students. Lunch break is for an hour and there are 5-10 minutes breaks between each session. Meetings by the placement committee and student council are often announced on short notice. It could be at the odd hours of 2 am in morning. The students have to manage to submit their work on time as well as attend all the guest lectures, and grooming sessions along with their own club/committee work. Students in MDI Gurgaon are always on their toes because something or the other is always happening around them. There are pretty places on campus to go for leisure walks, eat in Sharma Ji, Nescafe, etc. It is said that when a student graduates from the institute, Jha Ji’s paratha is one of the most missed things about college.
