The final placements for the batch 2019-21 have been completed at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. Being part of the top 10 B-schools in the country, MDI Gurgaon has maintained its stature in terms of the placements. A total of 128 companies participated in the placement process as compared to 126 companies last year. This is the first batch to be placed virtually through online media due to the prevailing pandemic circumstances. But the scenario has not affected the placement figures as such. In fact, there has been an increase of overall average package being offered to the students. The average package has increased to INR 23.15 LPA, up nearly 5% from INR 22.05 LPA last year. The median salary of the batch stood at INR 23 LPA. The highest CTC of INR 44 LPA (which saw a jump of 8.6% compared to last year) was offered by Amazon.

The highest number of offers were made by the industry giants like Deloitte USI (19 offers), PwC US Advisory (19 offers), Cognizant (17 offers), ICICI Bank (15 offers) and PwC India. Other top recruiters included Airtel, L’Oréal, Make My Trip, Flipkart, PhonePe, Vodafone Idea, Dell and American Express.
Out of the 128 companies that visited the campus, almost half of the companies were new recruiters. The new recruiters included BMW Group India, D.E. Shaw, Google, Reckitt Benckiser, Johnson and Johnson, Thoucentric and The Chesapeake Group.
MDI Gurgaon which is known for Marketing and Sales had the highest number of new companies from FMCG/FMCD and Technology, Telecommunication & Media sector.
Dr. Kapil Kanwal (Dean-Continuing Education, Placement and Alumni) said that the institute was expecting a decrease in the hiring numbers by the regular recruiters visiting the campus due to Covid scenario. Assuming that, the institute made a conscious effort to invite new and diverse recruiters especially from the sectors like consulting, technology and telecommunication that are performing well currently.
Batch Profile
The batch of 2019-21 at MDI Gurgaon has an average CAT percentile of 98.10 and an average work experience of 26 months. The batch has 32% female students. About 34% of the students are from the Tier-I Graduation Colleges. In terms of academic diversity, 75% of the overall batch are from engineering background, 13% from Commerce and 12% from Arts, Science and others. The average age of the batch is 25 years.
29% of the students have 13-24 months of work experience, 27% have 25-35 months of experience and 26% are freshers. Most of the experienced students are from IT sector (35%), Manufacturing (21%), Marketing (18%) and Analytics & Consulting (15%). The students had worked previously in reputed firms like Amazon, Deloitte, Bain & Company, EY, KPMG and Axis Bank.
MDI Gurgaon Summer Placements (2020-22) Highlights
MDI achieved a 100% placement record in the Summer Placements for the batch 2020-22. 86 recruiters came for recruitment out of which 27 were new recruiters. There was a 5% increase in the average stipend offered which went up to INR 2.42 lacs. The highest stipend offered was INR 4 lacs (provided by Media.net and Sprinklr) and the median stipend was INR 2.30 lacs. FMCG, yet again, emerged as the top recruiting sector with 24% offers. The highest number of offers were made by Amazon, Deloitte USI, Flipkart and Godrej. Other top companies visiting the campus were Walmart, Accenture, IBM, Coca-Cola, Tata Communications, Samsung, Castrol and Fresenius.
So, the final placement figures at MDI Gurgaon this year show that the institute didn’t get affected by the unprecedented circumstances. This speaks of the reputation and potential that the institute possesses. The numbers in fact are continuously growing up the ladder every year which strengthens the trust on the institute among the students.
