National Council For Hotel Management And Catering Technology also popularly known as NCHMCT set up in the year 1982 by the Government of India is an autonomous body for coordinated growth and development of hospitality education in India, NCHMCT exam is conducted for admissions into hotel management and catering industry.

NCHMCT Exam: Courses Offered

  • Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration 

The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year (Six Semester) full-time regular course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector.

  • Sc. in Hospitality Administration

The M.Sc. Program is offered jointly by NCHMCT and IGNOU at select Institute of Hotel Management. The program provides opportunity to 3 year diploma and 3/ 4 year graduates in hotel management to peruse advanced postgraduate course in Hospitality Administration.

  • Several other diploma programs such as Diploma in Food Production, Diploma in Food & Breverage Service, Diploma in Front Office Operation, and more.

NCHMCT: Selection Procedure

Admissions to NCHMCT are strictly be on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the All India (Written Test)i.e.NCHMCT JEE. Based on marks scored by a candidate in NCHMCT JEE, he/she will be allotted an All India Rank (AIR)

National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology Joint Entrance Exam also known as NCHMCT JEE is an entrance exam conducted by NTA to admit students in the hospitality courses offered by NCHMCT.

NCHMCT JEE: Eligibility Criteria

Given below is the eligibility criteria for NCHMCT JEE

Age: Upper age limit for candidates is – 25 years (2-years of age relaxation is provided to candidates from SC, ST candidates and Physically challenged categories)

Qualification: Must have passed or must be appearing in 10+2.

Note: English must be a compulsory subject.

Exam duration: 3 hours

Total questions: 200

Total Marks: 800

Marking scheme: 4 for each correct response

  • -1 for each incorrect response
  • No marks for unattempted questions
  • No negative marking for Non-MCQ questions

  • Numerical Ability & Analytical Aptitude: Compound Interest. Profit & Loss, Time & Distance, Ratio & Proportion, Fractions & Decimals, Square Root, Simplification, Logarithm, Unitary Method, HCF & LCM etc.

 

  • Reasoning & Logical Deductions: Statement Conclusion, Symmetry, Coding & Decoding, Series, Syllogism, Blood Relation, DI, Analytical reasoning, Linear & Complex arrangement, symbols & notations, statement assumptions etc.

 

  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs: Prizes & Awards, World Statistics, Inventions & Discoveries, International Organisations, Sports, Disasters, Currencies, Books etc.

 

  • English Language: Fill in the blanks, Paragraph/Sentence completion, Idioms & Phrases, Synonyms, Antonyms, Analogies, Vocabulary, Spelling Error, One Word Substitution etc.

 

  • Aptitude for Service Sector: Service Sector related aptitude questions

 

NCHMCT Exam: Reservation Criteria

The following percentage of seats are reserved at NCHMCT for certain categories like:

(i) 15% of the Seats Reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) Candidates.

(ii) 7.5% of the Seats Reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) Candidates.

(iii) 27% Seats for reserved Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Candidates as Per the Central List.

(iv) 10% of the seats are reserved for General Economically Weaker Sections (General-EWS) Candidates.

(v) Reservation for Kashmiri Migrant / Kashmiri Pandits / Hindus (Non-Migrants) residing in Kashmir Valley (subject to notification from Ministry of Education for Academic Session 2022-23).
