The National Testing Agency released a notice in the last week of January 2025 regarding NEET UG exam changes. NEET exam 2025 is expected to be held on the 4th of May in 2025. Based on the official announcement, the NTA NEET exam will be conducted in 180 minutes. The Section B of the NEET exam has been removed. As a result, the provision for optional questions will not be available for 2025.
NEET 2025 will comprise 3 sections: physics, chemistry, and biology. The physics and chemistry sections will each have 45 questions, while the biology section will have 90 questions. Thus, the total number of questions in NEET 2025 will be 180. The exam duration will be 3 hours. The syllabus for NEET UG 2025 has also been released comprising 20 units in Physics and Chemistry and 10 units in Biology with the total number of chapters being reduced from 97 to 79.

NEET UG Notice 2025 – Know Major Changes
The official notice published by NTA includes changes to the NEET exam pattern. NTA Removes NEET UG Optional Questions
The official authority for the NEET UG examination has removed optional questions from the NEET paper pattern. This move comes after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic to revamp the old NEET exam pattern. The NEET UG pre-COVID format consists of only 1 section ‘Section A’ carrying 180 marks in total.
