The NMIMS Interview Transcript of Shantanu Bhowmick is as follows:
Both the panellists were in their early 40s and I will be referring to them as P1 and P2.
I was admitted into the interview panel after waiting for 2 long hours so was a bit nervous at first but eventually the panellists increased the stress level with their stress questions (LOL).
Me: (On joining) Good morning, sir!!
Both the panellists nodded.
P1: Hi Shantanu, what have you done prior to giving CAT?
I was expecting this question as I had completed my under-graduation from NMIMS Mumbai itself.
Me: I explained my learnings from my under-graduation subjects and that’s when the second panellist pitched in.
P2: Okay Shantanu let’s talk about distributions.
Me: Sure sir.
P2: Can you describe a beta distribution?
Me: Answered but he was not satisfied.
P2: Don’t beat around the bush. Okay can you tell me about normal distribution?
Me: Told and he looked satisfied.
P2: Okay give some examples of normal distribution.
Me: Started explaining but P1 interrupted in between saying that it was not appropriate.
P1: Okay let’s get to the real deal now. Why MBA?
Me: Gave a well-prepared answer.
P1: But why MBA from NMIMS?
Me: Told that the college being located in the financial capital shall provide me with a great level of exposure and since I am already acquainted with the campus life, clubs, committees, etc. So, I would blend into the rigour of the course easily.
P1: Wont that be too easy for you? Why don’t you try for IIMs?
Me: Gave an impromptu answer but they looked dissatisfied.
P2: Okay Shantanu we are done for the day. Do you have any questions?
Me: No Sir, Thank you.
P2: You can leave the meet then.
Me: Thank you sir.
I felt this was more of a pressure handling interview and the interviewers were constantly checking my ability to handle stress and that’s why there were only a few traditional interview questions and a lot of questions to test the problem solving skills.
It wasn’t a very good interview as far as my immediate opinion was concerned but I later realised that it was more of a stress test rather than a knowledge test.
Verdict: Ended up converting NMIMS HR and NMIMS DT in the first list.
